[Review] Dell i5368-10024GRY a Winner on all fronts

Buying a new laptop can be a somewhat daunting and intimidating task. There's simply too many variables to consider! Do I want an HDD or SSD? Normal display or touchscreen? Laptop or convertible? DDR4 or DDR3 RAM? You catch my drift...

Well today we're ready to set sail on our review of the Dell i5368-10024GRY, a laptop that should make the daunting process of selecting a notebook much easier. You see, this laptop comes packed with everything you could want and then some. Top notch processor? Check! Spacious SSD storage? Check! Option to be used as a tablet? Check! Affordable price point? Check!

Don't worry, you don't have to take our word for it, you can see this for yourself in the customer reviews and if that's not enough then we gladly invite you to read our review to see if this laptop will ultimately meet your needs.

Pros: 6th generation Core i7, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD, ample battery life, lightweight design, Full HD display.
Cons: no ethernet port, not developed for gamers.

Let's start with the design...

This one's a looker! The Dell i5368-10024GRY has a beautifully crafted body that weighs a little over 3 pounds and affords you maximum portability thanks to its 13 inch diagonal. Sculpted in grey metal, the new Dell convertible isn't too flashy yet provides a professional and elegant look that's just a joy to look -and touch- at.

Having a 13.3 inch display also means that you've got a spacious backlit keyboard but no dedicated numeric pad, that's fine since most laptops in this size don't really have one. Speaking of the display, that's actually one of this convertible's most appealing features since it's a Full HD IPS WLED-Backlit touchscreen display with Intel Real Sense technology. By the way, in case you were keeping track, that's a 1920 by 1080 pixel resolution, well above the standard HD resolution most laptops carry around.

Moving on to performance

You can't judge a laptop let alone review one without looking at the performance and fortunately, in the case of the Dell i5368-10024GRY it looks like we're pretty much covered on all fronts.

Specifically, when it comes down to the CPU we've got an Intel Core i7-6500U (dual core) processor clocking in at 2.5GHz (3.1GHz with turbo) with 4MB of cache and four threads operating simultaneously to deliver a seamless performance on anything you throw its way.

Couple that to 8GB of DDR4 RAM (not the standard DDR3) working at 2133MHz and you've got yourself a power player capable of handling just about anything. Be it coding and compiling on demanding development software or editing high definition video on the go, this convertible is up and ready to show you what a real laptop can do.

Finally, to top off the performance of the Dell i5368-10024GRY we've got a massive 256GB SSD module which will allow you to store your media library without having to make any compromises.

At a time when most laptops that implement an SSD module hardly go beyond 128GB it's refreshing to find a laptop that doesn't ask you to compromise and delivers both plenty of space as well as a snappy storage option that will reflect on pretty much everything you do on this notebook.

What games can I play?

Like pretty much all convertibles in the market, the i5368-10024GRY wasn't designed with gaming in mind. Case and point; there's no dedicated graphics chip. On the contrary, you've got an integrated Intel HD 520 graphics chip which should deliver decent frame rates on old titles that aren't very demanding but nothing very good when playing current AAA titles.

That said, this doesn't mean that this graphics chip is bad. On the contrary, stuff like streaming Full HD video or even editing 4K video is fine but when it comes down to gaming it's simply not as powerful a GPU as you'd need.

A look into battery life and overall connectivity

When you consider the fact that this laptop barely has any mechanical parts you can understand that battery life is bound to be good, at least that's the general rule of thumb. In this case you wouldn't be wrong as with a 3 cell battery you can expect battery life to be along the lines of 6-7 hours.

Obviously this varies according to your usage and Dell isn't promising anything here but if we assume a minimum of 6 hours, it's still pretty good given the current standard.

Finally, when it comes down to the connectivity in this review of the Dell i5368-10024GRY we've got an HDMI output, 3 USB ports, SD card reader as well as an audio jack. There's no ethernet port, something pretty common amongst convertibles nor is there a DVD drive.

Obviously we wouldn't be talking about a high end laptop if it didn't feature the latest WiFi ac connectivity or the latest Bluetooth 4.0 support. Don't worry, your skyping needs will also be met thanks to the Maxxaudio speaker system and the HD webcam embedded on this PC.

Closing statements...

The Dell i5368-10024GRY reviewed today is probably one of the best convertibles in the market. Whoever said convertibles weren't powerful computers obviously didn't look at this model. Sure, it's far from the cheapest model in the market but if you think about it, you're looking at a machine that's got it all.

It's a Full HD tablet, a high performance laptop, an entertainment center and a very portable work center. You couldn't really ask for more with this model and honestly we find it quite hard to believe that anyone could possibly be disappointed with this convertible, with the obvious exception of hardcore gamers and graphic designer who need a dedicated graphics chip.
