Top 6 reasons to buy the HP 14-dw1024nr

We've talked in-depth about the HP 14-dw1024nr in the review where we covered everything there is to know about this very popular laptop. Now we're determined to go even further and have developed a small list of 6 reasons why you should buy this popular convertible. Are you ready?

1) It's got a great display

One of the most crucial things you should look for in a laptop is its display because no matter what kind of work you're doing, this will be your go-to tool.

HP has done an amazing job here with their Full HD IPS Touchscreen Display that delivers clear imagery at all times and it's also great to use thanks to its touchscreen functionality.

It's also worth mentioning that the display also features micro-edge bezels which ultimately contribute to a more immersive viewing experience.

Sure enough, this isn't what we'd call a high-end display. However, it's still good enough for most use cases, even if said use cases include editing images. Though, again, we wouldn't recommend this particular convertible as the top option for a laptop for photo editing.

2) It's got an 11th gen Core i5 CPU with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB SSD

HP has stepped up their game when it comes to the internals of this laptop and some hardcore mobile users will be very pleased with what they have managed to achieve.

The 11th generation Intel Core i5-1135G7 CPU delivers a balanced performance that satisfies most power users. Couple that with 8 GB of DDR4 RAM and 256 GB of SSD storage and you've got yourself a finely tuned machine that won't let you down.

The only downside is the lack of a discrete graphics card which would have made this laptop more appealing to gamers but unfortunately, HP wasn't able to squeeze one in.

3) Battery life is impressive (though not earth-shattering)

The battery life on this laptop is pretty decent. It's not earth-shattering but you can take it out for the day and expect to come back home with some juice left in your tank, which isn't always the case.

This HP 14-dw1024nr packs a hefty battery that will last you up to 9 hours of web surfing or watching video on the go and it's also rechargeable with HP Fast Charge which takes your laptop from 0%-50% in 45 minutes.

Though if we're being perfectly honest here, your mileage will vary and 7 hours with this set of specs and battery set is far more realistic. Just putting that out there because manufacturers are unfortunately known to inflate the battery-life claims on laptops.

4) HP has implemented their signature Bang & Olufsen audio

By now, most HP users are well aware of HP's tendency to include Bang & Olufsen speakers. Honestly, you're not going to notice a mind-blowing audio experience here since we're still talking about laptop speakers but they do raise the bar slightly when compared to other convertibles.

5) An impressive connectivity package

HP has also equipped this laptop with some pretty good wireless networking options. It's got a Wi-Fi 6 AX201 dual-band connection and Bluetooth which will suffice for most users.

When it comes down to available ports, the laptop features a USB-C port, two USB Type-A ports, and an SD card slot. There's also an HDMI port and there's no ethernet port as you'd expect on a convertible.

6) It's the perfect solution for students

Finally, perhaps the most important reason to buy this laptop if you're a student is that it's just about the perfect laptop you can buy a student.

It's got a large and clear display that offers good viewing angles, it has an impressive processor that won't lag behind when you're doing your homework but is still capable of handling some light gaming. It also packs one hell of a battery which will allow you to get through the day without having to charge up between classes or while at home.

Bottom line

The HP 14-dw1024nr convertible is a great buy for most users. It has both power and portability, it can handle most use cases without breaking a sweat, the Bang & Olufsen speakers are good considering they're laptop speakers and you get an impressive connectivity package. Overall, this is one of the best options for a mid-range convertible so far this year.
