In recent years, UltraWide monitors have taken control of our desktop space since they allow us to get multitasking done more quickly and efficiently, saving us some time from having to switch from one screen to another.

With that in mind, in this review of the LG 29WQ600-W, it's time for you to get to know in-depth the main features of an affordable 29-inch LG monitor whose performance makes it a great option for productivity, entertainment, and even gaming purposes since it features a pretty respectable refresh rate of 100 Hz

Besides the immersive viewing experience, the LG 29WQ600-W delivers its UltraWide aspect ratio (21:9), which enables you to work on many tasks at once, thanks to the Split-Screen Mode.

Couple that with a Full HD resolution - adjusted to the screen format -, the inclusion of HDR 10 technology and an excellent brightness compared to other monitors within its range, and you've got yourself a multipurpose monitor that has garnered excellent reviews and quickly climbed the ranks to be one of the best-selling monitors of the year.

Image Quality

LG 29WQ600-W performance
The LG 29WQ600-W sports a 29-inch display with a Wide Full HD resolution (2560 x 1080 pixels) since it's slightly larger than the traditional Full HD monitors.

The newest LG monitor features IPS technology, ensuring you not only a great viewing experience at every angle but also an excellent color accuracy of up to 99% of the sRGB gamut. Making it quite suitable for visual professionals.

Its maximum brightness level reaches the 300 cd/m² mark, so you'll be able to see crisp and detailed images when working in indoor spaces as the screen comes with an anti-glare coating.

As for its contrast ratio, it reaches a decent 1000:1. This isn't perfect, but let us not forget that while this is not a cheap monitor, it also doesn't fall into the category of a high-end monitor where you expect a better contrast ratio.

The LG 29WQ600-W boasts a high refresh rate of 100 Hz and a response time as low as 1 ms (MBR), which means that you can play light and some demanding AAA titles without tearing and stuttering since it supports AMD FreeSync, a technology that perfectly matches with most of AMD’s midrange GPUs.

Also, LG's exclusive Black Stabilizer feature will allow you to see a more realistic black color in the darkest cut scenes of games of several different genres, while its Dynamic Action Sync feature will add fluid motion and dynamism to the formula. There's also a Crosshair function to improve your aim in shooter games.

And when it comes to multimedia entertainment, its HDR 10 support coupled with an immersive 21:9 aspect ratio delivers a fantastic picture image with vibrant colors and higher levels of contrasts when watching movies, series, or documentaries.

Overall, we would say this monitor is well suited for gamers. While it is true that a bigger resolution might seem like a better fit at first glance, the fact that it features a Full HD resolution is actually better since it means that the graphics card won't have to do a lot of heavy lifting to move millions of pixels like you would see on a 4K monitor.

In reality, only very high-end graphics cards would genuinely be able to make the most out of a 4K monitor, so unless you have a top-of-the-line GPU, this is a pretty solid bet. If you do have a top-notch GPU, then you might want to consider the LG 34WN80C-B, but you should also be ready to spend quite a bit more.

Features of the LG 29WQ600-W

In order to improve your daily productivity, the 29WQ600-W provides you 32% additional space when compared to a conventional 16:9 monitor, so you can effectively multitask on a single screen without distractions.

And if you're buying into this monitor with the idea of using its multitasking features, you just need to access OnScreen Control software and adjust the basic settings or even split the screen into up to 4 sections if you need to work with more than one app at once.

Furthermore, you will enjoy eye-care technology as it comes with Flicker Safe technology for reducing flickering and a Reader Mode that prevents you from suffering from the harmful effects of blue light, especially when working at night. However, if you're a visual professional and don't want the coloring to be affected, you could always switch off these options.

Design and Connectivity

Design-wise, the LG 29WQ600-W boasts a white matte cabinet whose minimalist look fits perfectly in every workplace and on the desk at home. Its slim bezels are matte black, and they provide a bezel-less look when watching multimedia content.

Moreover, it's supported by a solid ArcLine curved stand which can only be tilted from -5 to +15ยบ or even replaceable for a VESA mount (100 x 100 mm) if you don't have enough space and need more flexibility when working.

As for connectivity options on the 29WQ600-W, we've got a DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4 outputs, a headphone audio jack, and a single USB-C port.

Last but not least, it packs a 7-watt built-in speaker with decent quality sound that can be replaced with external speakers or headphones to enjoy a better sound experience. For this, we would recommend the Tronsmart Studio we had an opportunity to review earlier this year. If you get two of them, you could even have an excellent 3D sound experience which we can't recommend enough.

What are customers saying?

The LG 29WQ600-W has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers. Many customers have praised its performance and functionality, highlighting its double-screen feature as perfect for work and study needs. While it required some calibrating to set up, customers have found it to be a wonderful addition to their workspaces, especially when projecting from a laptop.

Customers have also appreciated the monitor's affordability and value for money. The inclusion of speakers, which are often missing in monitors within this price range, has been a significant selling point for some users. The colors and image quality have also been highly praised, with customers noting that the monitor offers clear views and vivid colors at an attractive price point.

Some customers have mentioned a few minor drawbacks. The size of the monitor stand has been criticized as being big and somewhat unattractive. However, this issue has been easily resolved by replacing the stand with an adjustable clamp-on monitor arm. Additionally, a few customers have noticed that the picture quality of this model is slightly lower compared to previous LG models they have owned. Nevertheless, overall customer satisfaction remains high, with the monitor performing well for work purposes and providing an excellent widescreen experience.

In summary, customers have expressed their satisfaction with the LG 29WQ600-W monitor, praising its affordability, double screen feature, vivid colors, and clear image quality. While there have been minor concerns about the stand and picture quality, these issues have not detracted significantly from the overall positive feedback received from customers.

Price and Similar Monitors

At a wallet-friendly price point, the LG 29WQ600-W offers what most users need to get things done efficiently, focusing on multitasking projects and assignments thanks to its colorful and sharp UltraWide display, which can also deliver a fantastic multimedia experience when streaming movies and playing games.

But if you prefer a gaming-oriented monitor, the LG 34WP60C-B could be a better choice since it features a 34-inch curved display with a refresh rate of 160 Hz, a response time of just 1 ms, and a stunning Quad HD resolution.

Bottom Line: Should you buy the LG 29WQ600-W?

Overall, the LG 29WQ600-W is one of the most versatile LG monitors you can find these days on the market, offering what we'd expect for an all-in-one, reasonably-priced solution designed to satisfy day-to-day users' needs.

Also, we appreciate its colorful display and space-saver design, as well as its split-screen capabilities. And although it will take some time to get used to, especially if it's your first UltraWide monitor, the extra screen real estate you will gain is definitely well worth the transition.

Ultimately it's a great monitor that's bound to make you happy by delivering a crisp picture quality, a multitude of connectivity options and a bargain price point.
