ASUS VivoBook R564JA-UH51T performance
The ASUS VivoBook R564JA-UH51T features a professional-look matte-black chassis that feels solid despite its plastic build. Although it's a 15-inch laptop, it features a very lightweight design, as stated by the users who have already bought it, weighing just 5.06 pounds and measuring 0.78 inches, perfect to ease your commute.

Unlike many budget-friendly 15-inch laptops, this model comes with a slim-bezel IPS Full HD display with touchscreen capabilities, allowing you to work more comfortably as well as enjoy your favorite movies and series in high definition with an aspect ratio of 16:9 and excellent viewing angles.

More commonly, when looking at budget-friendly laptops, we come across devices that either feature an HD screen and a decent set of internals or a Full HD display and a very flimsy set of specs that generally don't go beyond a Core i3 processor.

However, with this model, Asus has managed to set a much-appreciated exception to this rule and provided a laptop that both features a Full HD display alongside some mid-range specs.

Moving to the keyboard, although it isn't backlit, it offers a solid typing experience with a good key travel and even goes as far as to include a dedicated numeric pad on the side, a feature that's on the border of extinction at this point.

The R564JA-UH51T features the 10th-Gen Intel Core i5-1035G1 processor powered by four cores, eight threads, and a 6 MB SmartCache memory as well as a TDP as low as 15W, which means that it's a low-consumption processor (better battery life).

Also, it packs 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, meaning you can easily manage to perform your run of the mill everyday task (text and spreadsheet editing, web browsing, video calling, running cloud-based software, etc.) as well as some demanding tasks such as non-professional video/photo editing and 2D CAD renderings.

When it comes to the graphics department, the Intel UHD Graphics integrated GPU allows you to play light games smoothly and 4K streaming through an external monitor since the screen doesn't support that resolution.

Although it only features 256 GB worth of storage, the solid-state drive (SSD) ensures quiet and fast performance when starting up the Windows operating system, loading apps, opening files, and transferring heavy data, thanks to its faster writing/reading speeds when compared to the older HDD drives.

Overall, this is a good set of specs that make this laptop a perfect fit for any number of users. From students to small business owners, going past elder citizens and basically anybody that doesn't require a dedicated graphics card nor anyone that needs to perform 10 tasks at any given time - you would need more RAM for that -. This is a great option for all of the above.

Connectivity and Extras

Concerning the connectivity options, the ASUS VivoBook R564JA-UH51T comes with three USB-A ports - the regular sized USB port - , a single USB-C 3.2 input, an HDMI 1.4 output, a headphone audio jack, a Micro SD card reader, and an HD webcam on the top bezel.

Moreover, it has Wi-Fi 5 support which was previously known as Wi-Fi 802.11 ac before the Wi-Fi Alliance updated its name to Wi-Fi 5 in order to simplify it for users. There's also Bluetooth 5.0 support.

As an add-on, it also features a fingerprint reader on the touchpad, so you'll be able to log in to Windows more easily via Windows Hello.

We're surprised it doesn't feature more USB-C ports but to be honest it's a bit of a relief as well. Most of our peripherals still use the previous standard and its nice not to have to use a dongle all the time.

We also appreciate the inclusion of an SD card reader which, as we where saying when we where reviewing the Asus ZenBook Flip 13 UX363EA-AH74T, is a feature that's been missing over the past few launches and one that we're not quite ready to give up on.

Battery Life

As far as battery is concerned, we can expect battery life to be along the lines of six-hours when working at 50% brightness over WiFi. That's not all that great but we should bear in mind that this is a budget-laptop and one that features high-end components at that. We where bound to have to sacrifice something and it makes sense for battery life to be that something.

Having said that, 6 hours at 50% brightness is still pretty good and for most users its enough.

Verdict: Should you buy it?

Overall, the ASUS VivoBook R564JA-UH51T is a budget-friendly, portable, and easy-to-use convertible laptop with sufficient performance to comfortably perform everyday tasks and even some demanding ones smoothly.

Amongst its best attributes, we've got a sharp and handy touchscreen display coupled with an incredibly fast SSD drive, a Core i5 processor, and plenty of connectivity ports to differentiate itself in a market full of laptops that lack in this department.

Couple all of this with a truly competitive price point and you've got yourself an excellent option that's set to take over as the best-selling mid-range laptop with a budget-friendly price.
